Tuna Tartare with Mango and Avocado

Serves 6

Ingredients:

• 1 pound fresh sushi-grade ahi tuna or other tuna

• 2 large plum tomatoes, chopped into small dice

• plus more for garnish

• 1⁄2 cup red onion, finely chopped

• 1 teaspoon sesame oil

• 1⁄2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

• 2 tablespoons tamari

• 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

• 1 teaspoon grated ginger

• 1 small firm but ripe mango, peeled and chopped into small dice

• 1 large avocado, chopped into small dice

• 2-3 scallions, thinly sliced

• Lime wedges

• 1 package thin crackers

Instructions:

  1. Chop tuna into 1⁄2-inch cubes.

  2. In a large bowl whisk together the oil, tamari, and vinegar; gently toss with ahi, tomatoes, ginger, onions, oil, pepper flakes, mango, avocado and scallions. Adjust seasonings.

  3. Chill for 1 hour, and serve in a bowl alongside the crackers and lime wedges.
